The firm · Malé, Republic of Maldives

One counterpart for an island project.

Barlovento is a Maldives-established maritime and civil engineering firm. We were set up so that international capital, operators and contractors could work in the Maldives with one in-country organisation that measures, designs, builds and supplies to the standard their committees expect.

In one paragraph

Barlovento is a maritime and civil engineering firm headquartered in Malé, Maldives, serving resort development across the archipelago. Its six practices are advisory, hydrographic survey, marine and coastal works, civil engineering and works, plant and equipment hire, and project logistics. Clients are investment funds, resort owners and operators, institutions and international contractors. On any project Barlovento acts in one disclosed role — consultant, engineer or contractor — and never supervises or certifies its own works.

Position

Established firm, stated capability.

We do not pitch. We state what we can measure, design, build and move, and we fix the role we will play before the work starts. Clients engage the practices they need at the stage that concerns them.

The firm's organising narrative is the resort development lifecycle: site and acquisition, feasibility and consenting, design, construction, operation and renewal. Every practice is positioned on that line.

Turnkey mandates cover the complete resort — marine and coastal scope, civil infrastructure and buildings, and the logistics that supply them — delivered by Barlovento together with its delivery partners under one contract and one point of accountability.

Clear roles

On any project we act as consultant, engineer or contractor — the role fixed and disclosed from the outset. We never supervise or certify our own works.

Evidence

Decisions rest on measured data: declared datums, documented survey control, uncertainty budgets, as-builts. Where a figure is an estimate, it is labelled as one.

Confidentiality

Client identity, site names and coordinates stay out of contractor-facing documents until a non-disclosure agreement is signed; issued documents are numbered as controlled copies.

Protection by mechanism

Commercial relationships are governed by written non-circumvention and review terms, not by informal understanding.

Questions

Questions we are asked

What does Barlovento do?

Barlovento is a maritime and civil engineering firm in Malé, Maldives. We advise on, survey, design, build and supply resort development projects across the archipelago. Clients engage one or several of six practices: advisory, hydrographic survey, marine and coastal works, civil engineering and works, plant and equipment hire, and project logistics.

Does Barlovento act as a contractor or as a consultant?

Either, never both on the same project. On each mandate our role — consultant, engineer or contractor — is fixed and disclosed from the outset, and we do not supervise or certify works we have executed ourselves.

Which parts of the Maldives do you cover?

The full archipelago, from Haa Alifu in the north to Addu in the south. Survey vessels, plant and supply lines are mobilised from Malé or positioned in the atoll for the duration of a campaign.

Who are your clients?

Investment and development funds, resort owners and operators, government institutions and agencies, and international construction and dredging contractors that need an established in-country counterpart.

Where is Barlovento based?

In Malé, the capital of the Republic of Maldives: H. Soanary, 5th Floor, Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Malé 20056 (approximately 4°10′N 73°30′E). We operate across the whole archipelago.

What is the legal entity behind Barlovento?

Barlovento is a trading name of Admiralty Private Limited, a company registered in the Republic of Maldives and based in Malé. Contracts and invoices are issued by Admiralty Private Limited.

Is Barlovento a Maldivian company?

Yes. Barlovento is established in the Maldives, with Maldivian partners, local licensing and an in-country counterpart network, and works to international reporting standards for international clients.

Is Barlovento certified to IHO S-44 or ISO 9001?

Our survey work is aligned to IHO S-44 and our management system is built on ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 principles. We describe these as frameworks we align to; we do not claim certification unless a certificate exists and is stated.

How do you protect client confidentiality?

Client identity, site names and coordinates are withheld from contractor-facing documents until a non-disclosure agreement is in place, and documents issued to third parties are numbered as controlled copies.

Work with the firm.

From a single survey to a complete resort, every mandate starts with a conversation about where the project stands.
