Plant hire in the Maldives.
A programme in the atolls is only as fast as the machine that reached the island. The Plant Hire practice hires out Barlovento's own fleet of earthmoving, lifting and marine plant — mobilised by barge, maintained by our own team in-country and priced without surprises.
Barlovento owns and hires out a fleet of construction and marine plant in the Maldives — tracked excavators from 20 to 48 tonnes, backhoes, wheel loaders, rollers, tipper trucks, truck and crawler cranes to 50 tonnes, and 250 t and 450 t landing craft — under a single contract, with mobilisation to any atoll, for short campaigns or twelve-month site contracts. Rates are quoted in MVR exclusive of GST.
Categories supplied.
Units are matched to the task and the island: a reclaimed site, a renovation inside an operating resort and a harbour works contract do not need the same machine. Specific models and capacities are confirmed in each quotation.

How hire is structured.
Barlovento owns the fleet and contracts directly: one contract and invoice per project. Availability, replacement of unserviceable units and planned maintenance are our responsibility.
Rates in Maldivian rufiyaa, exclusive of GST (8%). Mobilisation and demobilisation itemised separately. Standard shifts stated; overtime priced per hour.
Fuel, operator accommodation and site facilities are allocated explicitly in each quotation — typically to the client on long-term site hire.
From a few weeks to twelve-month contracts. Minimum periods apply to short-term hire; long-term hire includes maintenance and replacement.
Operated or dry hire, by unit. Operated hire includes an experienced operator under Barlovento's HSE system; dry hire requires a competent operator on the client side.
By landing craft or barge from Malé, scheduled by the Logistics practice around the monsoon. Marine units reposition under their own power or in tow.

Questions we are asked
Is the plant owned by Barlovento?
Yes. The fleet is owned and maintained by Barlovento, based in Malé and positioned in the atolls as campaigns require. One quotation, one invoice, one point of responsibility for mobilisation, availability and replacement.
How is plant hire priced in the Maldives?
Quotations are issued in Maldivian rufiyaa, exclusive of GST, with mobilisation and demobilisation to the island itemised separately. Rates assume standard working shifts; overtime, fuel, operator accommodation and site facilities are set out as client or contractor responsibilities in each quotation, so there are no hidden lines.
How long does mobilisation to an atoll take?
Plant is moved by landing craft or barge from Malé. Allow days for the Greater Malé area and up to two weeks for distant atolls, depending on vessel availability and the monsoon. Marine units — tugs and barges — are repositioned under their own power or in tow.
What hire terms are available?
From short campaigns of a few weeks to twelve-month site contracts. Long-term hire includes planned maintenance and replacement; short-term hire is priced by the day or week with a minimum period.
